And my little EE I hatched out last fall laid for the first time yesterday. A pretty green egg.

My girls seem to be stuck on 6 out of 11, but 4 are young SLW, so maybe next month we'll start seeing more?

Between a dog attack, winter light and molting I went almost 2 months without an egg from 19. Slowly they started up and I was getting about 4 or 5 a day then 3 days ago they all started and I got 15 from the 19. Most took a day off and yesterday I got 10.

Yesterday I got 25 from 45 hens.
It was bitter cold yesterday.
Today he has the heat lamp on to keep the water from freezing.

My high so far is 30 eggs from my old group and my newer group.

Discussion this morning was how many nest holes do I need to keep the hens happy. I have a 15 hole metal box on the wall. I say with 45 hens that is 3 per hole. I am good. Hubby does not think so.
Most I have had in the boxes are 12 at same time. I also have 2 rabbit nest boxes on the floor, and several hens like to use one of them.

I got 14 eggs yesterday from 9 hens! Not really sure how or why seeing as I know they weren't from the day before as I went out at midnight to lock up the girls for the night and there wasn't anything in the coop. It was really funny to go out there with one of my girls sitting on top of ALL these eggs trying to push out another one!

I think you're good. I had 4 for 10 and they used two. Another bldg had 3 for 12, they used 1. And 2 for 7 and they use 1.
I've even had 2 and 3 at a time in the favorite box.
They'll figure it out.
3 per is plenty.

You had to have skipped a day. I doubt that's possible.
Never heard of 2 eggs in 24 hours from a chicken let alone 5 chickens.
