Sherri, your birds are just starting, be patient, they'll all come into their own, and you'll have eggs all winter - it'll be next autumn when you see the slowdown
As for the free ranging part, I'd keep them in the coop in the morning, until around 11 am, so you don't have to do an Easter Egg hunt every day to find the eggs! Many will lay in the morning, although as they cycle through days they can lay in the afternoon, but they'll cycle back to the AM soon enough!
