How Many Eggs Did You Get Today?

It is not your imagination.  The grocery stores eggs have sat for weeks.

I got one today also.

I had not thought of that. These are the fertile grocery store eggs I checked out over two weeks ago......I was thinking of putting some under my broody. But because of their age I did not get them......these are the exact same eggs.....same date on Carton. The fertile eggs must not be popular around here. And now I am eating them....eeew. lol the exp date is 12/19/14.

No eggs yet today....but fingers crossed it is early.

Hmmmm. I don't know any grocery stores around here that sell fertile eggs. At least they don't call them that. You never know. But I will tell you probably most of my eggs are fertile. We have several roosters and several hens. Right now the roosters are not aggressively breeding. (Not breeding season around here.) But in the spring and early summer, I don't separate non fertile from fertile eggs. We eat them and have never had any issues. And I sell my excess eggs. So, I would not give it much thought

This a Martins grocery store. The fertile eggs are in their organic section. I don't care that they are fertile just hate they are not straight from the nest, lol. I don't think any of my eggs are fertile as the Dominique roo is only 4-5 months old....not sure when he will realize he is a man.

Probably next month then. About 6-7 months they start acting like boys. Some earlier, some later. I have one baby roo. He is the whitish one in my avatar (Mr. T). He just started crowing this week. I love it when they are learning to crow

SO CUTE! Is this your 1st and only roo?

Yes he is the first.....and so far looks like the only. I bought him as a pullet but will be happy to have a roo as my chickens free range. I only have eleven total chickens so only need one roo. I had chickens years ago but I was working then and predators got them all quickly.....so I didn't have much chance to learn from them. I am enjoying them so much now.....with or without eggs. But the eggs are greatly appreciated.

That is my boy in the avatar a couple months ago.....my grandson named him Joe Dirt. Ewww, I hated that movie, lol.

We got 10 eggs today......so far. We got a couple of French chickens that don't get going to the crack of 2PM. Whenever I want a double yolk egg, I feed them one bag of Kale greens the day before and PRESTO! I get a double yolk egg.

I think it's one of the Marans hens laying the doubles. I notice when it is a double yolk egg they are not near as dark as the regular Marans eggs.

This Marans egg is not as dark as most of the Marans eggs but my wife just ate the darker ones we got today. She is soooooo selfish.
