How Many Eggs Did You Get Today?

Ya
I found four eggs this morning!! I am so eggcited!!! One is from one of the POL's. She snuck in on me so I'm not sure who it is. The pullet with the most red on her head is a Dom and this is a much darker egg than the other two Doms give me. The one I have seen checking out the nest the most is a Partridge Rock...but her comb is just pinkish. I think the egg is too big for the banty. Sleuthing is in order, lol. I did see the line at the most popular nest but thought it was just the same two hens.
I started collecting chickens in September and this is our most productive day yet. So if I don't count Olivia who is raising chicks right now I got 4/4!

:weee. :weee :weee

Yay !!!

9/15

Had to rescue the 5 little 5 week old boys tonight. It was almost dark and they were all huddled in a corner of the run, three inside the fence and two outside. After getting them all inside the run, they still stayed in the corner, scared to move. So, I tossed them through the pop door in the side of the barn, into the run under the coop. Went inside, and they were huddled in the corner under the feeder.
Soooooooo....
I opened the coop door, scooped them up one by one, and put them "upstairs" where momma and the two sisters were waiting. Momma was watching me, but I don't know if she was saying "Thanks for bringing my babies back!" or "Gee thanks, I thought I might get some rest tonight, but noooooooooo, you had to bring them back!"

I am so used to getting 1 or 2 eggs, sometimes none, its been like that for months. Today I saw a nest with 4, then as I was about to leave I saw another egg in another box. Wow - 5 eggs is a lot for 7 pullets. Hope I can give a dozen to a good friend of mine who sometimes chicken sits for me :)

Egg gathering is so much fun, I never get tired of it.

Yep, had one that was 112 grams and one a few days later that was a whopping 123 grams! The 112 gram was two complete eggs - two outer whites, two inner whites and two yolks, and looked bigger than the 123 gram one because it was more dense. Poor Ida!

0/5/9 Waaaaaah!

Ya know, I started my chicken adventure in June of last year....JUNE, like 2nd & 3rd week of June, so yeah, probably not getting eggs regularly until Feb/March. But ya know, I still look just in case!
