Lol that's what happened with my chicken math as well. Started with 1 coop, built 2nd one this past spring and will be starting the 3rd soon. Hoping to talk hubby into building another layers coop as well.

My wife's parents got me moleskine notebooks for Christmas because I love graph paper and over analysis of things. It gets confusing because some chickens have names, some don't and I can never be totally sure who laid what when it comes to the breeds I have multiples of. But it does look sufficiently nerdy! (I quickly moved to writing a weight for the egg instead of just a check and I recently added a color code for the time of day it was laid... YES, I spend too much time on this, lol)

You guys are making me feel SSSOOOO much better!

I started tracking the eggs via Excel spreadsheet so I know when to start "holding eggs" next year. The girls put the brakes on the egg-laying kinda quick (early December) and I had just given away 6 dozen eggs.

I also track molts, etc. Knowing who laid what is easy for me. 4 different breeds and I know what the eggs look like from each girl.
