It sure is....I had it happen with Agatha, my Easter Egger. She laid the first one early in the morning while I was out cleaning the poop board. I took that egg right out of the nest, still warm and damp from the bloom. That evening I went out to lock up and saw Agatha in the same nest. I remember thinking that I hoped she wasn't deciding to sleep in there, and just as I went to get her off she stood, "assumed the position" and gave me a lovely blue egg, again still warm and damp. Floored me! First time I'd seen it happen, and it hasn't happened again, but I literally watched her lay both. And there's no mistaking Agatha, so I didn't confuse her with another chicken. She's the only gold and white chicken I have.
It had to be one of my EE's as I have an extra blue egg today..the Araucanas lay slightly greenish blue and the others are shades of brown. 6 of my 8 were a mixed rescue flock of hens (about a year and a half old)....very rangy and in need of TLC...they are wonderful "Pet egg layers" now and have started laying me almost everyday now.

Wait, wait...lemme see if I've got this......you have 8 hens. You got 8 eggs. That means that 8 chickens sat on prickly nests and worked to drop 8 eggs just for you so they could make you happy. And you say THEY'RE spoiled?

well I guess I must admit I am spoiled too...

they are spoiled however and it is so nice to see them so much happier and healthier than when I got them...I LOVE spoiling them

Collected 2/6/7... 1 is broody so she's not laying right now.... I candled 4/5 eggs today.. The 5th was placed in there as a solid control that I know exactly when it was started.. The other 4 are roughly 5-8 days older because I found a hidden nest... I've never candled before and I think I've got at least 1 maybe 2 early deaths but the other 2 I think I see vines... Very dark brown eggs so it's hard to see well.... I'll check the other Monday. That will give it from the 2nd to the 6th to do something... Hopefully it's fertile and I'll be able to see all of the process because it's a lighter brown and I could see clear through when I set it...

Cross fingered.. :fl I would love to see :jumpy by the 20th.. That's my sons 5th birthday...

I've also found a very active birds nest with 4 hatchlings that's just low enough that I can sneak a pic if I stretch my phone as high as I can without disturbing the nest.

Busy ,busy day! The girls are rockin all week I've had one day of 8/9 the rest of the week 9/9! Today was the first time we've colored homegrown easter eggs! We did 12 white eggs and my curious self boiled 3 brown eggs, just to see. I LOVE the way the brown eggs came out!

The brown eggs are up on the stands, the white eggs dyed in the same color are laying in front. They all have been glittered! My daughter firmly believes there is no such thing as too much glitter!

The glitter shows up much better on the darker eggs!
