Just 4 today from the barn where I know at least 3 or 4 of the 10 are molting and 3 others have just recently started laying. None from the Ameraucauna coop. They have no artificial light, so I think that is a big factor. I have 10 Black Penedesenca eggs in the incubator. They are due October 11th. Wish me luck! Last time I had 3 pullets & 7 cockerels. Hoping for more pullets this time!

1/7 ........seeing lots of feathers so still molting, suspect a red comet is broody, and 6 straight warm muggy days of clouds and rain. I think the egg laying clock is messed up! Another week of forecasted clouds and rain....may have to install lights and see if that helps!

just 1 today from my Ghost girl. Brownie went into the nesting box and practiced, but nothing (she has laid a couple times so far, but not regular yet).

15 out of 17...all are laying but not on the same days, it's pretty exciting to fill an egg carton.

Only my second egg EVER! My first one came on Sunday!

3 of my girls are 24 weeks: one Orpington, one Wyandotte, one Easter Egger. I'm pretty sure it's the Orpington laying it but I don't really know how to tell the difference between those and the Wyandotte color. They have been fairly small but I heard their first few will be. AND both have been laid in the nesting box!! So proud! (The fake eggs definitely worked)
I also have 4 other girls who are 22 weeks and have been getting "squatty" lately too.
My other 11 will be awhile because they are still only 14 weeks! So excited!

6 of 12 daily in 1 pen of hens and the pen of 23 pullets have just started with first eggs on consecutive days from 2 of them.
The 12 hens are 2 groups of 6 that we put with a 9 month old cockerel, have settled in and are becoming regular. A week ago it was only 3 a day from them so we are happy.

ARRRR! We have 12 hens. All ornamental so they don't lay everyday, BUT we usually get 7 a day. NOW FOR THE PROBLEM. We had a rooster, he started getting mean and we have grandchildren so he had to go! He's been gone for 4 months and since he's been gone, we get 3 eggs a day. DOES THAT MAKE ANY KIND OF SENSE???? Also one of the hens was broody, and finally she came out of the coop and she looks a mess! No tail feathers at all, is that normal??
