How Many Eggs Did You Get Today?

Are you sure it wasn't caused by the tarp trapping moisture inside the coop?
No the other sides are completely open. It is a long rectangle, wire all around. With a second coop on top, part wood roof/floor, part wire roof/floor. So there was still tons of ventilation. I had tarped 3 sides & the top, but it still didn't cover all of the long sides or the opposite short side. I had tarped the end that the wind was coming from and created a 4' x 4' wind free area. Obviously, that wasn't enough. It might have been if the tarp had stayed put, but the zip-ties came undone on 1 or 2 places and that let the tarp blow off on 1 side, part of the short side & a little part of the roof. I definitely learned a lesson, but it is the poor cockerel that is paying the price.

7 eggs today. The 3 white leghorns that I got for Christmas have stopped laying the past 3 or so days. But I also added 2 other birds ( 1 hen & 1 rooster) to their coop. I think it has better wind protection than the coop these 2 were in. Neither the rooster (also a Black Penedesenca)or the hen got frost bitten the night it was really bad, but I was really nervous after what happened to the other rooster, so I moved them to the new coop.

I have four White Leghorns (almost two years) and two Barred Rocks (almost four years). I get six eggs every day, so they're all laying. I arrange my egg cartons with 8 white eggs and four brown.

1 green egg.
