4 of 5 laying, still waiting on my astrolorp to start,she should be about 9 months now

If there are tight places she can hide in start looking in there. Mine started laying behind some old wood in a tiny corner. Didn't even know until I moved things around.

I probably won't have any for a few. Dog attacked 4 today

. Was able to save others but had to put down 4.

I'm so sorry to hear that! We had that happen a few years ago. Apparently there were 3 dogs running loose in our area. The neighbor say them take 1 hen, but really they took 2 and then another day came back and got another. I drove around to try to find out who owned them, but had no luck. A few weeks later 1 of the got hit & killed by a car. We haven't had trouble since then ( knock on wood)

They were Black Australorps. I have some week old chicks so I have replacement birds and I was able to process them out and save most of the meat. The dog broke 2 necks and the wings on the other 2. Some good came out of it. Plus I've been given the go ahead to hatch more.
Still sad and the dog was a stray I think. Animal control took it. They are going to test it for rabies and then let me know if the meat is safe. I'll keep the meat apart until then.

I'm glad to hear you were able to contain the dog until animal control came & got it. Hopefully it'll test negative for rabies!

I was able to trap it in the dog pin when it went after one. She flew over the top and got away thankfully and I slammed the gate. Animal control will get back to me if the dog had rabies sense it did hurt a few and killed others.

Alright @karenerwin out of all the e-mail's I have I will answer this one as I just got back from the VA Hospital where I was admitted then released after spending the weekend then asked to return due to a mix up and requested to stay for several more days and late Friday Afternoon I was released agents doctors orders but I just could not stay much longer but I found out that I was feeling a little under the weather and hard to get along with because my blood sugar was over 700 but it is much lower now and much of my eye sight has returned but I made it home just before 1 AM and I am going to check on my girls as most of the animals seem to be in good shape ...

I wish I had been visiting the Family but it seemed they came to see me off as the nursing staff took it upon them selves to call and scare the daylights out of everyone and this I was very unhappy about ..

Once I figure out how to get the photos off my phone I will put up some of the birds that are in the pond at the Palo Alto VA Hospital ...

Oh my gosh! I am glad that you are ok. I have been diagnosed as diabetic for about 6 months now & have to take a pill 2x's a day and watch what I eat & exercise more. I am glad that you went to the hospital & got help getting those numbers down! I imagine that you are glad to be back home, I know I would be!

29/40 and 9/14. One red Ammo got internaly broken egg yesterday and died over night. Coop 2 count down to 14. 3 isolated with one impacted crop and other 2 possible fungal infection.
