Yes I don't think it's possible for a chicken to lay an egg every single day of the year, it wouldn't be healthy I'm sure. I'd rather get less eggs from them and have them live longer to be honest. I love my girls. I got 4 eggs today so far. And it looks like my baby Azalea is laying her first egg now! She's 17 weeks old. It's all I can think about right now, I'm just so proud of her haha

Not true!

The record for egglaying belongs to a white leghorn that laid 371 eggs in 364 days. The world record for the most eggs laid in one day is seven.
 
I have a hen or two laying in the yard, even though I don't let them free range until two hours before sunset. I found one in the yard when I was mowing Monday. Not in a hidden nest, out in the open. It had to be Blondie, she also lays in the pen a couple of times a week. She never lays consistently, like her sisters, they lay mostly in the morning.
