How Many Eggs Did You Get Today?

my 4 Silky are raising 9 bc marans, I have a ameracauna on 5 or so eggs from the main coop to prove my cockerel is fertile.. How many birds do you have I still get between 10 or 12 eggs a day
Probably about 12 laying-age. The Dutch are all broody, and most of the rest are either sitting on nests or walking around half-broody!

Wish one of mine woud go broody!
I've had no takers for the fertile eggs I was given on July 6 and have 2 bantam eggs likely fertile since she was escaping roosters when I got her that same day.
The timing is bad for me to incubate eggs now due to August travel plans.

Can a virgin hen even go broody?
:idunno:confused:

could possibly often most hatchery birds have had it bred out of them but if any are from breeder they could but usually they will lay an egg or two first

I have occasionally heard on BYC about someone having a bird go broody before they ever laid an egg, but it's not that common. I've never had it happen to any of my birds.

Um, yeah. Half of my original 2012's went/go broody 2-3 times a year (2 of them are still alive). Never had seen a rooster in their lives. Can't necessarily claim that all the 2017's and older are still virgins since we had an Oops cockerel in the 2017's from Meyer. He was rehomed at about 6 months ... and promptly got himself killed by a raccoon.

Since our girls are most new to laying at about 4-5 months they are laying sporadically still and our Easter Eggers have been laying small petite size eggs.

We have 1 year old Favaucana we adopted that lays a pretty sage green egg almost everyday.

Yesterday we had 6 and today we had 4. One being the largest chicken egg I have ever seen. The green egg with the monster egg is from our Favaucana Girl who lays regular large size eggs.

I just love the variety of colors we have!
