I had one that was laying them stopped I dont use lights to increase laying so I dont need eggs right now anyways
Thank you!!@LoriFitz34 Lori, perhaps the "treats" were diluting the nutrition they needed to lay? By cutting treats back they're now getting what they need & laying once again?
BTW those are some nice eggs!
This is actually a surprise to me. I’ve read so much and have their feed of regular chicken pellets ALWAYS available. I just thought I was giving them extra, awesome nutrition! I had no idea I was hurting them. I’d ‘spoil’ them in my mind. Boy, did I screw that one up! Lol. Thank you everyone!!!They were getting too many treats (even the good greens and vegetable scraps) and not enough healthy food( chicken feed). I have had the same problem. Even though it seems like the treats are healthy greens and veggies, it still causes a decline in egg production if they get too much. The commercial chicken feed is specially formulated so that the chickens get exactly what they need. Then we go and mess it up because we give them treats and so they eat less of the commercial feed because they are filling up on the goodies. It results in fewer eggs.
