How Many Eggs Did You Get Today?

Could be both. Most chickens start with small eggs, some stay that way for quite a long time slowly getting bigger. Others start laying bigger fairly quickly. ASSUMING I've not missed Aurora's (Austra White) initial eggs since the first I knew about was in the alpacas' wall feeder, her first 2 were 54g and the one she laid today was 60g, well in the center of USDA Large. On the other hand Sophia (Columbian Wyandotte) has been laying for a couple of weeks and they are still 44 grams.

They do change a bit unless it a banty often new layers will have huge those are doubles not all lay them at first but some do

After getting nine all week my girls left me five eggs, and finally found my sneaky ducks nest! Underneath my momma rabbit hotel stuck in the mud. I think she wants to laugh at me as I try to collect them in the mud

I have heard that ducks aren't so good about laying in nests provided by humans.

Only 9 today. We got a snow storm today. They were calling for 1 to 3 inches in our area but last I heard they upped it to 4 to 6 inches. I guess the rest is coming tomorrow because it hasn't really done much else since around 1:00.
They have already canceled school for tomorrow. I think we are supposed to start the morning out with ice and then have it change to snow in the late afternoon/early evening. We had to leave the car at the bottom of our long driveway because we couldn't make it up the hill in the car.

Forgot to look in the nest at lockup. It was well after dark when I got home so I counted heads and shut the door.

I got 6 eggs Saturday and 6 on sunday from group #1, I went to feed and water group #2 and 1 of the 25 week old Barred Rocks layed an egg. So I got seven eggs yesterday (sunday).

Most molters appear finished,
except for the only hen laying since early Nov is now molting.
The two 29wo pullets look ready, but.....
ZERO EGGS for 10 days now.
5 days until Solstice, then I will start to hope again.
First time I've had to buy grocery eggs in 6 years.

Ahhhh take heart I am now all of sudden getting 7 or 5 of a day three months 0 here had to buy eggs for 2 months but all new layers too

At least they won't freeze overnight where you are.

First time I've had to buy grocery eggs in 6 years.

The last time I bought them at the grocery store, I bought the free range eggs from a local farm. At least they looked proper on the inside, not like the cheap ones.

2 today so far. Sophia hasn't laid in 3 days since I scared her off the nest seeing if she wanted scratch. Sure hope she hasn't found somewhere else to lay. The 2 that laid in the wall hay feeder are properly using the community nest box now They must have been laying at the same time today because there was an egg at each end of the 4' box. Usually all the eggs are on the left side.
