15 both yesterday and today. Big increase from the 9 the day before!

My hens can really take it or leave it. I wasn’t shocked at all. I guess they are all different. Don’t get me wrong, my girls like chops but not to the point of gorging on it. I can throw it out and they actually share with the squirrels that are brave enough to go in the run. Crazy chickens...

Curious. My 21 girls will beat each other up to get to both scratch and BOSS.

My understanding is it’s pretty rare to keep them around long enough to lay without health problems. That’s pretty cool

True but obviously the hatcheries keep them around or there wouldn't be any chicks to sell
I think if you raise them like "real" chickens with outside space to move around and don't have the "all you can eat buffet 24x7) the CX can live without the medical problems of those raised for slaughter at 8 weeks.

Any tips to keep the bedding in the nesting boxes? They keep pulling it all out and laying on the bottom of the box. Just worried I’m gonna have broken eggs.

It could happen since they stand when the egg actually comes out. Have you tried other materials? Mine prefer pine shavings mostly but there is hay on the floor of the "feed room" and in a tall cat box in that room. Several of the girls prefer those laying areas.
If you can't keep bedding in you might want to consider a piece of foam sewn into a fabric of some sort.

If I go to all white leghorns I'll probably go to $3.dollars.

Why raise the price if they are all white eggs? My girls lay all shades of white, brown and bluish green. I think that is a better looking carton than all one boring shade

One out of 4 today. It my oldest who decided to make a nest in the furthest corner behind the rabbit hutch. I had to fish it out with my crutch!

I keep a grabbit in the coop use it on lower floor level boxes ..
Girls gave me the hugest mole I have ever seen today dead of course but they left it whole ...
I had 13 big girls 2 from silkie
