My ducks were laying super consistent since December & this week nothin! It’s warming up & spring is coming but we had a cold snap. Hopefully that’s all it was.
In case you're wondering, NE Ohio '22 winter is very long this year. Our 3D Ladies are looking out the window at what we now call "snow-shadows" Pretty at Christmas, difficult in February. If you listen hard, to the silent majestic beauty, yes you will hear a chicken SIGH!!
17 yesterday, 15 today. Today is my last day to have 23 layers. I sold 3 today and my big boy rooster. Chrissy, you’ll be happy to know he’s going to a young family that fell in love with him. I know how you don’t like getting rid of roosters. It’s a win, win, win! They got hens already laying and a big, friendly rooster. They want to buy chicks when they hatch. And I get to shift my remaining roosters around to have a more efficient flock.
I got a new girl a few months ago.
Others were molting.
it's winter, they wanted to vay cay you get the idea.
Finally today, I got 5 of 5 for the first time !
My one girl who usually lays pink eggs, they are more brown now. So thinking need to wait for it to heat up a bit more, or her to be back in the swing for a little more time for that to start happening again.
Either way, I am happy they are all laying and healthy! They all got an extra handfull of snackie snacks today too for it
