How Many Eggs Did You Get Today?

You’ve been loving eggers for over a year now and never had an egg?

We have chickens on the family farm. I am delegated to helping with them! Before that I was the chicken sitter for 2 neighbors on weekends in the summer when they were away.

This June we got a few for my yard…the new ladies have not laid yet, and they are truly the first birds that are totally “mine” and not shared.

I haven't checked my eggs today! yesterday though, I got 10 or so.

Yesturday, I got 6 eggs out of ten Jersey Giants. Today I got 4 eggs from them.

6 eggs 6 hens. First time raising chickens the last 7 months and these birds are spoiling me. These girls working overtime even in the middle of summer heat they were pumping 4-6 a day! Got 8 prairie bluebells in the brooder. They have big shoes to fill!

Got 8 again today. Ruby's was even smaller than usual and wrinkled. Wouldn't surprise me if there isn't a yolk. She's has only been laying for a week so I guess she is still sorting out the kinks.

Her egg today is on the left, yesterday's is in the middle, and a larger egg from one of my other pullets who has been laying a few weeks is on the right.

I got 3 pullet eggs today. Porcupine was on the nest at lockup so maybe she was working on her first egg. My grandson named my 2 Isa Browns Porcupine and Porky. His sister named my Smokey Pearls Cheryl, Deborah and Dottie. Funny kids.

you got some freeloading slackers there!
are they going into molt? are some broody? stress is also another issue that can cause less eggs. of course, there's also the question of if they are just old!

I am anxiously awaiting eggs. I had 3 hens that were about 4-5 wks away from laying and now I have 1 A predator compromised the coop and got 1 roster and 2 hens . Now i have to wait for the "teenagers" to get older (they are about 14 wks right now) to have more eggs. :/
