I only have 1 laying too. All 4 are light Sussex pullets. Is your picture a light Sussex? Any chance your young ones will start this year?Hello! I'm new to this thread, but I've seen it around, and thought I'd finally chime in. I got maybe one egg today, but I haven't done the nightly check yet, so not sure. Probably didn't get any. I have one hen out of 18 laying now, and she's starting to molt. Out of the 18, four aren't laying yet, three haven't laid in over a year, three just finished molting, and the rest are four and five years old, probably going to take the winter off. Lazy things.
Nope, she's a Columbian Wyandotte. Very similar in color to a light Sussex! I've kind of stopped holding out hope for the young ones. We put them in the big coop with the others a couple weeks ago, and they're still a bit stressed. Add to that the fact that the highs here are barely above freezing...
I keep telling my girls food ain’t free, but they don’t listen. I just have 4 hens- one molting after a prolong broody period.
