How Many Eggs Did You Get Today?

It seems like lots of people are having issues with their hens not laying, or taking seemingly unusual breaks this year. (My ladies included.) But if your hen is that young she should have a long way to go yet. Hopefully she's just taking a little break, and she'll go back to giving you eggs soon. :)
Will be a year in June…

I only have 2 girls, so I keep pretty close tabs on them. My girls went into a heavy molt (first molt for them) in the fall/ winter (October/November-January) I have gotten just over 2 dozen eggs since November. They used to be VERY consistent daily layers- even through the winter months. I have noticed an increase in soft shelled eggs as well -3 this month (which the girls promptly want to eat the yolks out of :sick). They get plenty of protein and free choice oyster/egg shells. I typically give them high protein/calcium treats also (meal worms/meat scraps/yogurt /fresh greens/grasses) My girls will be 3 years old in July.... is this drastic decrease in egg laying due to their age??? (they are QUITE HEALTHY girls- no illnesses) I have noticed that they are also not as interested in their food as they used to be. ( I feed them Scratch & Peck 16% protein- soy free/corn free organic layer mash (fermented) & pellets (moistened) ) I have used this brand of feed from day one. The only thing that has changed is their bedding in the coop/nests. TSC isn't carrying the kiln dried straw that they are used to so I have had to put in other stuff instead.
