How Many Eggs Did You Get Today?

I know I have the wrong birds for this comment but I got 2 eggs today out of 13 Hens. They are my Ducks and it was a high of 11 degrees F so by the time I got home from Church the eggs were cracked from being frozen and got pitched. I am just proud that my ducks are laying in this cold weather. Thanks for letting me chime in.

I have quite a stock pile as a few of my girls have not given up on laying so I wasn't upset when I had to pitch them. I have a spare refrigerator that I can keep them in so I am Blessed. I love duck eggs also and they seem to be really good for you as my blood work always comes out great since I have been eating them regularly.

0 again today. We had scrambled eggs this morning from water glassed eggs. I’m not sure how they tasted because I’m currently on the mend from Covid but nobody complained so guess they were ok.

I was watching the birds on the coop camera off and on all day lots of the girls visited the nesting boxes but nobody left an egg behind. I’m not sure if this is a sign that they are going to start back up or if it was just the warmest place to be.

Sorry you have been sick, we had it over Christmas break and were very fortunate that we did well with it. I pray you get better soon.

All my pullets are laying, and haven’t stopped for winter. Even my old ladies are laying, I am thinking it’s been very mild here (till this weekend) and I think that has a bit to do with them still laying. Hmmmm a spare fridge sounds like a good idea!

Thanks, i am feeling much better today. Mostly just bored today I have been hiding out in the bedroom trying not to spread it around the house. I feel well enough that sometimes I almost forget I’m sick and try doing stuff. Then i run out of breath doing normal activities.

I can surely relate to that. I was just so exhausted and had a terrible headache for 3 days. Doing duck chores was the hardest on me. I managed though so I was fortunate. This was my second time for having it. I had it when it first came out and it was way worse. You are most welcome and I am glad that you are feeling better.

10 here today, and I got them all before they froze. This week is supposed to be brutally cold…I hope I can get most of the eggs before they freeze. Hard when I have to work…
