I made some changes to the nest box today to prevent them from standing on the sides and back of the box. I added another row of 2x6s to three sides, and put up a few "chicken guards".

Looks great! Well done. Sometimes I wonder were all their poop comes from - it’s good to make sure they can’t roost and do their business there

Thanks! Mine have never pooped in the nest boxes. Their boxes have always been at ground level, so they're a lot lower than the roost bars. And aren't chickens ground nesting birds anyway?

Thanks! Mine have never pooped in the nest boxes. Their boxes have always been at ground level, so they're a lot lower than the roost bars. And aren't chickens ground nesting birds anyway?

I have found eggs everywhere in the barn up on the straw stack is my pet peeve - sometimes the eggs roll off onto the floor. I have found them In shavings bags, in the bags I use for strings I cut off hay and straw bales, buckets, behind doors, and of course the floor but never have I found out outside.
