How Many Eggs Did You Get Today?

I think my hens are figuring out how to share the new nest box that I built for them. I went out around 7:30 this morning and two hens were in the box, but no eggs had been laid yet. A few minutes later I saw that three hens were sitting in the box together, side by side.

At 9:00 I looked out the window and all seven hens were outside in their day run, which meant that it was likely that all had laid their eggs for the day. And they did a great job! All seven hens gave me an egg this morning. All clean, all unbroken and all nicely arranged in the nest box. (Three of the eggs are ceramic fakes)

Only had 8 last night from the big girls, 1 banty egg from the 4 of them.

i got 9 eggs today out of 10 hens that should be laying at this time woohooo.

Woohoo 6 eggs from 6 chickens , ducks are still sporadic because of the colder weather up here in Canada.

My chickens were having a fun time this morning figuring out how to all fit into the new nest box at the same time. I need to make some adjustments to the box today so they aren't able to hop onto/over the sides and back.

I made some changes to the nest box today to prevent them from standing on the sides and back of the box. I added another row of 2x6s to three sides, and put up a few "chicken guards".

You may entice them to lay their eggs while sitting on it

7 from 7 today, an un-expected 1 from my easter egger with reproduction problems. Quarter for size, brown is from my barred rock and white jumbo from my tiny easter egger.
