How Many Eggs Did You Get Today?

2 today, from Juin and Juillet. Août sat for a while, but decided today was not the day.

6 eggs today...so far. I haven't checked since 9am. And none were broken today!

21 today and another broody to break.

11 today. It's going to be corned beef hash with fried eggs for supper.
The Empress made a break for it again and decided that she would rather graze than scramble for mealworms with the rest of the ladies. If I could I'd set her loose in the bok choi patch as something has been chewing holes in the leaves, but I know she's just going to treat it like a salad bar with the caterpillars as a side treat.

You just leave the luffa on the vine until it's dried enough that you can hear the seeds rattle when you shake it then you know it's ready. Then you soak it in warm water for 20 minutes or so to remove the skin.

Hmmm I wonder if I can grow it here? How long does it take to grow? An harvest??

16, 3 were from the silkies, and lucky me I was able to catch the theee girls laying their eggs so I know who laid which ones!

It might be a bit difficult given your growing zone. It's a tropical/subtropical vine and I looked it up and it says that it's zone 5 or higher. It takes about 4 to 6 months to grow and mature.

There were 7 eggs waiting for me at 7:30 this fine Sunday morning. All were perfect!

I mixed together a 50/50 mixture of crushed eggshells and oyster shell crumbles and refilled their calcium supplement feeder box. Then I threw what was left of their cabbage leaf trimmings into the run for a healthy morning snack.
