1 today..I tried to put the Bantys back in the coop yesterday but my sister found them sitting on eggs. Back to broody Banty protocol, I guess for a few more days.

All 7 hens laid an egg today and that makes me happy
Now I know why the 'extra' dose of drama early today! The girls were bickering, singing egg songs all morning. I had to pull out the backup nest box just to keep Patient from having a heart attack. Shes very possessive of the nest boxes

2 eggs from the 2 laying hens. They didn't give me any yesterday, but they generally give me 6 each a week. Can't wait till the rest come in to lay.

This beauty was quite a hit with my chooks.

A Garter snake about 2’ long. The chooks figured it was too much effort to pummel it to death, so the just harassed it instead

Got 23 eggs today, 3 were silkies, tomorrow my eldest niece will pick up the eggs and Friday the class will set the eggs. The students are very eggcited!
(Me not so much as they all end up back here…)

Sorry to hear you still have one laying fragile eggs. Had one yesterday like that - what a mess. I was so annoyed I just chucked the messy ones out to the chooks.
