Just 5 today out of 15 hens and 6 pullets coming into lay. I caught one of the pullets in action so now I know who has been laying these brown speckled eggs.
Juillet started molting a few weeks back, and she’s still covered in little pointy quills, but she laid a beautiful oval-shaped egg. I hope it’s just a one off for her sake, but it was still lovely to see
We are starting to have more of our Speckled Sussex pullets lay. Two are not going into the nest but it will correct itself as it did with our Isa Browns. One of those are laying some huge eggs. We are starting to get the first eggs from our second coop this week, so we will be putting nesting boxes in this weekend in that coop. So far today we have collected two eggs from our younger pullets including our first blue egg. So cute. We have two breeds of blue egg layers in that coop - 10 CCL and one Araucana pullet. Once we get their nest in we will see who is gets the blue egg award.
