i got 9 eggs today out of 10 hens that should be laying at this time woohooo.

5 out of 13 chickens (12 hens, 1 rooster)

At first I made it with five in one column and six in the other but the asymmetry bothered me.

The daylight hrs are getting longer here. But it’s not warming up any!

Only 100 more days until our official gardening season begins.

Might be soon you will feel not as cold. Officially 100 more days, but nature feels the changing of season before that. Your plants might have already wake up from the winter cold slowly.

I notice it is like that over here near the end of winter. We were still feeling the cold, but wild birds are chirping and singing.

I suspect over here we will have an early winter and will be a cold one. Bring it on!

Yes, this beautiful girl with a green and purple sheen I hatched last summer. She's the first chick I ever hatched with an incubator and I'm really proud of her

No, she is a happy accident between a prairie bluebell hen and easter egger rooster.

13 Yesterday!

Just this morning when I went to let them out, was checking for eggs, but only 1 laid so far (by 9am, my lazy chickens) Tilly FLEW off her nest, out the door of the hen house and RAN to the rest of the chickens up by the barn.

I just cackled. It's unseasonably warm (65 degrees at 9am, what the heck February?!?!) I'm hoping she just needed some 'me' time and isn't fixing on deserting the nest. Will watch carefully today.
