My 7 hens (4 RSL and 3 RIR) started laying last monday. YEAH! They are 20 weeks old. Today was our best day so far 5 out of 7. I can't wait for the 2 Barred Rocks (18 weeks old) start laying in the next couple of weeks. Then of course is the wait on our 5 Brown Leghorns (9 weeks old). C'mon more eggs please!
Four of Five. Darned blue cochin went broody at six month old! Locked her up for two days and she got over it, but still won't lay. GRRR The breeder told me to dunk her bum in cold water first thing in the morning, then let her out to free range. I tried the lock up instead, which worked, but am interested to know if anyone has tried this method?
We have 8 AU, 5 white rocks, 5 RR, 1 BR, 1 LW All 23 weeks, been very hot and humid on the east coast of Florida so I feel fortunate they are laying this early!
