Hello Math,
The pullets were on chicken crumble, as of yesterday I switched to layer pellets the chickens don't seem happy with these bullet sized pellets. I also gave them oyster shell, they have been having two tablespoons of yogurt with two table spoons of water mixed in.
It is now just past 6am I am totally freaked out by what just happened at 5:30 am just half an hour ago. I heard one of the chickens making noise as they do when they are laying an egg, I went out with there feed and to let them out into the chicken run and to my shock and horror I saw an egg that freaked me out. This is what I wrote down in my chicken journel book which I only started doing as of thursday of last week to keep a record of what kind of eggs these chickens are laying and what times etc...
Any way here it is:Monday 25 / 11/ 13 5:30 am
This is freaky one of my chickens (a Pullet) just laid an egg 10 minutes ago, soft shelled, with an umbilical cord and what looked like a deformed egg yolk. I scooped it up took it inside and with my mobile took a video of the egg as I attempted to break it in half. To my shock there was an egg yolk intact in the egg with an unbilical cord attached to the egg yolk, the cord was looped around and around and around and it went out through the centre of the fat part of the egg (not the pointed end) through to the freaky looking egg yolk. Any one ever experienced this with their chickens? These are pullets that just started laying last week. I don't have any roosters just 4 pullets.
