5 today from 8 hens. Weather has turned drastically cooler since the torrential downpours of last week.

I got 9 today. I've been turning the barn lights off at 6 after I feed all the animals. The plan was to get the girls to slow down their laying. It isn't working! LOL On another note, I got this cool spotted egg today and I have no idea who laid it. We haven't had a spotted egg since we lost our splash Marans during the summer. I'll have to keep an eye on the coop this weekend to see if I can figure out where it came from.

So pretty...I love those speckled eggs!

I got 26 eggs today out of 30 hens. I am a happy man.

WOW! That is awesome! Yesterday I got 5! My 3rd generation olive egger laid her 1st and 2nd egg! 2 eggs in one day. Overachiever! Such a beautiful dark green color! Tried to post a pic, but Time warner cable internet is moving slower than molasses this morning!

4/8 yesterday, and I found one very cold egg hidden under the straw that I missed the day before.

I'm farm-sitting for a friend's neighbor who wanted to see family out west his weekend. I'm really only taking care of the house, wood-fired boiler, dog, and chickens. A neighbor is taking care of the cattle, horses, and donkey.

My neighbors are collecting the eggs (hopefully!) for a few days. Forgot to tell them to keep track of the numbers.

Nice, we had three mice this am that the gang found in their free range area. Ours fight over the mice and it is pretty funny to watch them running all over with a bunch of girls chasing them.

So pretty...I love those speckled eggs!
