I love your egg presentation...so very pretty! Congratulations!
It's like portraits for my eggs. I keep telling my wife, "I can't believe they came from my chickens! And they look like real eggs!" I'm showing them off like they were baby pics in my wallet.I love your egg presentation...so very pretty! Congratulations!
LOL....I understand!!! They look pretty big as well, have you weighed them? My pullets started laying around 28 gram eggs, they now lay 70+ gram eggs at 8 months old. What breed laid the light pink tinge egg, is that right? Or is it just the camera? I have one pink egg layer, it's my BB Red Old English game hen, she is a tiny bantam and lays pink 25 gram eggs, which are delicious! It's like portraits for my eggs. I have had a tough time with chicken math when posting the egg counts. I had to think carefully, when counting. I count by breed when I inventory them at night, so the total has been lost. Counting the chickens in the coop goes like this as I am counting each breed: 5 leghorns, 6 red stars, 1 banty, 4 Cream Legbar hens, 2 roos, Etc Etc....
I always say I have 31 chickens total, but it is 32! 30 girls plus 2 boys! Chicken math!
Chickens:
16/27/30
Ducks:
0/3/3
We are busy cross fencing, so, the chickens will no longer have access to the sheds, porch, under the porch, the shop and the gardens.....I find eggs in funny places, they don't all go in the nesting boxes. I'll be curious to see if my egg count goes up after they have less hiding places. My husband is sure there is a HUGE egg nest somewhere in his shop, so we shall see! Hopefully, the cross fence will be done by tomorrow night!!! I need this fence for my sanity, I am tired of chicken poop on my porch in front of the front door!!!![]()

P.S. I take pictures of my eggs with my phone and show them to people!![]()
Wow ~ woot, wootYesterday was one of the most eggs layed by my chickens. About 45 eggs.
They're definitely smaller than store bought large eggs, but not absurdly so. They may qualify as medium. I don't have a scale sensitive enough for something as small as an egg, but it's on my list... as soon as I can justify to my wife why I need a scale that I'll probably only weigh eggs with.As far as the color I thought it looked like light brown to me, but everyone I show the picture to sees pink as well. I had been thinking they were my Aussie girl who was the first to squat over a week ago, but I have four squatters now and maybe if it has a colored hue it's my EE, red. I'm kind of at a loss there as I haven't caught anybody in the act yet, despite my snooping. One of my BR cleared everyone out of the coop and was singing and tossing shavings around yesterday, but I think she laid the more tan of the two eggs.
There was another warm one waiting when I went out this morning and they've all been delicious, so I guess I'll thank all of the girls.![]()
