How Many Eggs Did You Get Today?

400

3 out of 4 today. In the last 9 days, our four girls have given us 27 eggs. That's the most they have given us in 9 days since they started laying in early October. All four girls are Black Australorps and three of them lay medium to dark brown eggs while one of the girls lay a very light - almost pinkish - brown egg. I wonder why her's is a different color? Things that make you go hmm, I guess.

Missed your post but saw the upload you did in the coop are and checked out coop before reading this post. Great job on the coop and run. Love the poop hammocks, will have to see if feasible for our roosts, we could raise our roosts up a bit more. Love the old door (I think it was a door) roosting area. Love all your advice and experience with a broody, really helps people like me who will be doing it for their first time in the spring. I have been reading the broody hen thread which is great, the all Nautral Remedies, the DIY thread, fodder threads and incubating and hatching material. What else are we gonna do on a Sunday, it is cold and snow on the ground. Actually I am off to find a recipe for scratch pumpkin bread as we cooked down a pumpkin we grew and I got 9 cups of purée from it for my baking delight. Oh and I gotta make pie dough for a pumpkin pie. I gotta take a break from my chicken job for now.

Oh the whole reason why I am here....today totals so far, not sure we will get more or not. They put themselves to bed by about 5 right now and I just went out to feed for the night and check for eggs.

12/23 - oh they are tired today, that is the word in the yard.

I does look like an old door! Below those roosts are poop boards, there are two of them, they are wooden moving box lids that I painted. We can slide them out to and take them to the compost pile to dump the poop.

Love your coop! I love re-purposing stuff and spending as little as possible!

I already am jonsing for spring...broody chicks....painting coops.....gardens.....it's going to be a long winter.....

Yum, I love pumpkin! I'll bet your house smells gooooood!

I shoveled paths and an area for my chickens today....after shoveling, they finally ventured out of the coop. I walked down my 1/4 mile driveway to check the mail and snapped a picture halfway down:
