How Many Eggs Did You Get Today?

I recently added some eletricity to my coop,i did it so i could give them more "Daylight" to see if that would help with their laying,it definetly seems to have helped,i was only getting 1-2 eggs a day from 12 hens,it was a combo of them being penned in the house and the very short days, dark at 5pm and daylight at 8am,i added a timer to have lights on at 5 am and off at 8am,and on at 5pm and off at 7pm,it has helped them get back on track, everyone who was laying before is no back on track, however i am not sure if the extra cost of electricity is going to outweigh the extra eggs? I use a 7W CFL and it provides plenty of light to keep them laying.

Hamburgs are amazing birds. My silvers lay almost every single day of the week.
I think I NEED to get some Hamburgs!

2/3 The girls got a lot of extra treats today for some reason, so I'm hoping for big eggs tomorrow.

7/11 today. Things are looking up and I got another gorgeous little white egg from my GSH girl. I got an unfortunate (and utterly baffling) notice from the RSPCA this evening. Considering that I am -certain- I take better care of my chickens than literally anyone else in my town, I feel quite deeply hurt by this. I can rest assured, however, that there's absolutely nothing that any officer will find. :/

(Update: It was a well intentioned but incredibly ignorant neighbour (who actually DOES neglect her own chickens and whom I have been trying to work with to improve the conditions of her coop). She reported me for a bumblefoot procedure - saying that she was concerned I'd cut my chicken's foot off. After speaking to me the agent is no longer concerned.)
