I've got 12 girls, 2 have not come into lay yet. got 7 eggs yesterday. That is up from the 1 a day I was getting at the beginning of the month!

Do you have a rooster? If so he might be showing them seceret nesting places... ask how I know.

He makes noises and trys to get them to lay in misc. places..including but not limited too: The poop board (

), Behind stuff that is UNDER the poop board (

), in front of the coop door (

)
and of course once a week or so in the nest box (

) If only he could chose the nest box more often..because : Bantam eggs are HARD to find and this is a new laying hen and I have another on that should lay any day and he wants them to NOT lay in the nest box!!! And... TO top it all off, I am trying to collect bantam eggs to imcubate cause they are the only ones that are fertile and it could help it I could find them!!!

Yes I do and I know what you mean..I have all these wonderful nest boxes and I find them in the strangest places sometimes (no to mention I usually find them after it has rained and they are in a nest of leaves and get all nasty and muddy...YUCK! lol

I know! I have 5 nest boxes, ranging from extra large to normal size and my bantys pay NO HEED whatsoever.. and then of course I am trying to collect fertile eggs...

So far only one duck egg. I will have to check back later today. My girls like to come and go all day before they decide to lay. But look at this egg I found about 2 weeks ago. The hen who pooped it out is not a bantam. She is a big girl who usually lays a medium size egg.

Possibly stress egg.... Mine got attacked by a predetor and this was what I found...

Look for any signs of stress... Feathers missing, wounds ect...
