How Many Eggs Did You Get Today?

I'm getting 3 or 4 a day from my 9 girls. 4 of them are new so I'm thinking adding to the flock may have stressed them a bit. Does anyone have any experience with this and know how long it should take for everyone to get comfortable and start laying again?

Did you separate the new birds by wire for a few weeks or just introduce them cold turkey? The new birds need a period of time to adjust and insure no disease is introduced to your existing flock...

I was pretty comfortable that the new girls are healthy (I know the lady I got them from and she takes very good care of them) so I just brought them in "cold chicken". They seem to be getting along pretty well now. It's been a week since we added the new ones. They are younger than the other girls and I've seen at least two eggs from the four of them in that week. I guess I just need to be patient!

Yeah sounds like... All of my girls were the same age to the day but they started laying with almost a month separating the 1st and the last...

I brought in a new bunch these gals

to my coop. They were very shy and didn't let me touch them for months or lay any eggs. they lay now all big brown eggs, and will let me slip my hand under there belly in search of eggs, and some go down for me, if I get be hind them and give'm a little goose and say fluffy but fluffy butt, they don't run away.

These we all soup pot rescues, another gal was going to get them for the pot, and then didn't call back I traded them for a bottle of "3 blind Moose" wine.
