I did get to 8/13 today WOOOHOOOOOOO

highest number yet I guess my little Brahmas with their feathered feet are starting very small crowns but viewable finally

2/4!!!! My barred rock Martha finally laid today!

I got 8 or 10 on Sunday ( I've already forgotten!) 2 were frozen solid.
The winds were so bad Saturday night and the temps so cold that all of the roosters got frost bite to some degree. 1 poor guy got it pretty bad, the tarp that was blocking the wind came most of the way off during the night.

I put vaseline on all of their combs & wattles Sunday night. Plus it isn't anywhere near as windy. The rooster that was the worst off came inside. I'm not sure when it will warm up enough for him & his mate to move back outside. I want to watch him pretty closely, almost his entire comb turned black. I want to watch for infection (hopefully that won't be a problem). I moved another hen/rooster pair to a different coop that has better wind blockage as well as 4 other birds. Maybe they can all bundle up together to help each other stay warm.

3/9 just recently stopped producing as much, blaming cooler weather (even though I'm in Florida)

Got 2 eggs today!

Green egg pullet's laying everyday sometimes.
But then I dropped the carton of eggs and broke 8 putting them in the incubator.

It's supposed to get to -25 tonight.

It's -21 with 100% humidity.

It's a balmy -9.4 in the coop with added heater.
(It's the prairies, it's "supposed" to be dry air here.)

I was also out last night at 2am putting Vaseline on the straight combed roosters + one hen...lol. Cannot express how much I am loving the cushion/rose comb birds!
