How Many Eggs Did You Get Today?

House sitter called to tell me the girls laid 9 eggs. That must mean that the BO is finally laying. Guess the threat of her becoming soup has worked. She's 10 1/2 months old.

So...I'm 9/9.

One egg a day for two weeks 4 hens

I'm not sure if I have one super chicken or one good layer and one lazy layer?

3 yesterday. 1 so far today. I'm wondering if my BA is laying in secret. About once a week I have an egg that just doesn't fit a norm for any of my 3 layers. But her comb is still really pale. I'll have to check but I think she's about 7 months now

Do combs have to be bright before they lay? Or are there some hens that don't get bight red combs?

I had a BO that never grew a big bright red comb but she laid religiously.

I only have 3 so far this morning of 13 but then it seems with daylight they just don't care when they lay. I am trying to figure out with the coop covered by a huge tarp how to put a few windows in? they spend allot time in the coop because it is so large

Nice cover job but what about ventilation? Where are you located/climate?

I don't really know what type of comb she has. I thought it was a pea comb, maybe a rose comb but when I went out just now is larger then I've seen it and seems to have some fingers like maybe just a small single comb

That's a really bad picture. But you can tell her comb is still light

The Tarp used was not quite long enough so a second was placed I left a bit of open in a couple spots I use an rv water tank cut off for water one opening runs into it when it rains but both give extra ventilation the open door during the day does the rest I use shavings and have no odor. often times when it rains the birds don't leave the coop much. I am Mossyrock WA we have a good climate so far even in our cold spell the birds stayed happy in their coop I run one 250 heat lamp figure I wont have any maybe a regular bulb on a timer although the red does not bother my eyes.
