My hens first started laying during Christmas

I wish I knew. There is 3 feet of snow between me and the nest boxes. Am hoping the kid next door will come over tomorrow and shovel a path so I can get to the boxes. They hadn't been laying but several of them now have nice red combs again. Also the pullets hatched in August are started to get red combs.
