I've got 9 chickadees just a week old. I've got quite a ways to go before I see an egg.
I'd like to ask a total rookie question please, if someone wouldn't mind humoring the ignorance. The term "broody" is used often. "... wants to go broody", "is broody"... what exactly does this mean?
A friend of mine has silkies and she said the smallest "weaker" chicken is the one to always sit on the eggs while the others come out and eat and play in the yard. So one chicken sits on all of the eggs that were laid in the coop? I'm a little confused. Please have mercy on me and forgive the newbieness.
