Just got a "first egg" from the sister. I opened the little egg to see if it was fertile... and it was!

3 total today, 1 at 10, 2 at noon. None frozen.

Got another inch of snow last night. Chickens won't venture out, so I scattered seeds under coop. I will shovel their pen around 9am.

Got above freezing today 33F briefly, first time in days, back down to 29 now.
Chickens ventured out where I shoveled, but quickly go back under coop when a breeze comes through.

Today was cleaning day. Try to do that once a week. The coop the old girls are in is two tiered It has a middle box and the top I have finished as more of a summer hang out. The nesting box is in the top. All 3 have always used that box, however today I find 6 eggs in the middle box that I have not checked all week because I've never seen them there before.

FYI your nest boxes should be lower than the roosts or you might have birds spending the night (and pooping) in the nests.
