Yep! Each day after will be light a little longer, and hopefully I'll start getting more eggs.isn't the 21st the shortest day?

Me too!thank you .. boy am I excited for solstice to get here
Aaaaand we have another layer!!!
That makes three out of six now.
Only one BO was laying for weeks and then another BO kicked in last week. Both are laying beautiful brown eggs averaging 1.8-2.0 ounces each. The first buff started with a peewee at 1.3 ounces but quickly ramped up.
Yesterday, I found an egg that was shaped very differently from the BO eggs---on the longish side, sorta tapered, and it also had a tiny smear of blood on the shell. It weighed 1.6 ounces, not bad for a first-timer, I think.
The most likely layer is a SLW who has reddened up and whose pelvic bones were over two fingers apart a few weeks ago. She has also gotten very vocal. She is not a squatter, however. The two BO's go into pancake mode whenever I pass by but none of the other girls squat at all.
All of them have been seen sitting in the nesting boxes and ruffling up the nesting material so who knows.
More frittatas!!
