How Many Eggs Did You Get Today?

Reason I only have RIRs. Dumb birds but darn tasty.

This is the only group of Australorp I have had this issue with. It's a real let down.

I am leaning toward California Whites for more laying hens. The ones I had before did well for 6 years before reproductive issues set in.

I’ve got 9 18 counts in the fridge right now. I’m covered for breakfast for a long while.
Sounds like it is time to get to the market for sales!

Australorp are on the to go menu. I might sell them as they are the ones that are 2 years old and also super broody.
2 years is nothing for an Australorp, though broody isn't good. Not if you want eggs.

I would actually prefer the snow to the mud .
Me too! Of course we will have mud eventually no matter what. Sadly the ground thaws from the top down rather than bottom up. That means spring rain has no where to go but sit and make mud.

I know right! Soooo disappointed because Australorp are my all time favorite breed. I don't have a rooster and don't need broody hens.
I was hoping for better laying from this group.
They are taking an extra long winter break too.
:hit

Selling them will be very hard.
I need to watch very closely to see which are laying so I can band those birds. It would be extra sad if I sold my better layers.

Forgot yesterdays post so here it is.
4 from 6.
I get a darker brown egg from my SLW. I'm getting pale brown (almost pink?) Eggs and medium brown eggs but unsure from which breed. Medium should be BR but my BO have usually given me medium brown so I've been assuming they were giving medium brown and BR giving pink.
Any thoughts?

Have not been out yet about to now had the great pleasure of doing BF's taxes 4th year using free turbo tax but good to have it done
