How Many Eggs Did You Get Today?

Left on Sunday, got back today. It was hands down the worst vacation ever!! :hit
Oh Karen :hugs:hugs:hugs:hugs, I'm so sorry to hear it went so badly for both you, your family you visited and of course your mum. My MIL is the same age and thank god is still good to travel independently out to visit us. Can't imagine the time when it will take her days to recover (although guess they'll be coming sooner rather than later). How is she doing today?
I'm getting eggs to incubate later this week!!
:ya:ya:ya:ya:ya:jumpy:jumpy:jumpy:jumpy:jumpy:jumpywhat are you getting? I'm waiting on my Silkies to go broody and debating getting some fresh breeds in (really want some cream legbars and have had 2 hatching fails with them) or just start shoving eggs under and hoping for some EE type banyard mixes!

This is what I am told they should look like. They will be a cross between Salmon Faverolle x Splash Ameruacanas. I am told they will be blue chicks and will lay light green eggs.
I just talked to my Mom and she is doing better. She did not go down to the dining hall for breakfast, but did go down for lunch and was heading down for dinner. I wonder if the change in elevation was part of her problem? PouleChick thanks for asking about my Mom. I'm glad to hear that yours is still able to get around independently!

Nine eggs for me so far today. There could be another egg or so when I go lock them up, but I'm not going to hold my breath.

7 today ... or 13 depending on if you want to count Lana's frozen 6.
Do you feed the frozen ones back to your chickens? Or give them to the dogs? Or something else?

@PouleChick I forgot to say, put some barnyard mix eggs and some cream legbars under your broodies, then you should be sure to at least get something! If you're lucky, maybe you will get some of both!!

Got no dogs so yes the chickens will get them.

Glad your mom is perking up. I find air travel tiring and she is 20 years older than me.

Why cross a Faverolles with an Ameraucana? Hard as it is to get actual Ameraucana from a hatchery, you'ld think the few that carry them would be working to improve/increase them not crossing them out. They've got plenty of green layers with their EEs, blue are either Legbars or Ameraucana. Seems like some of the hatcheries are as bad about crossing just about anything as dog breeders seem to be.

@bruceha2000 I don't know, maybe they tried and found too many of the Ameraucana chicks died in shell due to that bad gene combination that I've heard of with them. :idunnoI'm just excited to get something that looks a bit different from what I already have.

Egg update: I found 3 more eggs at lock up so I got a full dozen eggs today!:D

It isn't Ameraucana that have the lethal gene, it is the Araucana. The gene is linked to the ear tufts. 2 copies = death, 1 copy = ear tufts. I think that is one reason the people who developed the Ameraucana chose muffs over ear tufts.

9 today, including 2 from Lana. Since I collected the 6 eggs from the bags of alpaca fiber yesterday, she decided to lay in the hay on the floor next to the remaining hay roll. It was right up against the stall wall and she got as far in as she could. I saw them only because I was peeling hay off the roll for the alpacas.
