That's amazing! Great friends you have. We are going hunting next year and hoping to get a few deer and turkeys.7 eggs for me today. I came back this evening instead of tomorrow because when I was halfway to my son's house a friend called to tell me that her husband got another deer ( archery season) and they were going to drop it off at the house for me! Since I wasn't home, they went ahead and gutted it and hung it in their yard ( where it would freeze; temps in the teens over night) and then they would drop it off at my house in the morning. My hubby said they dropped it off around 11 this morning.
My son and I fished for about 3 hours on the Jacks Fork river, but we didn't catch any trout. He hooked 1 but it got off. Then I drove home. Got home around 7:30 this evening. Tomorrow will be butcher the deer day! I've only butchered 1 other deer, so I am sure I will be "youtube-ing" it as I go!
I've always wondered if late winter chicks moulted before they were a year old. Was she laying the last 3 months? My 9 month old brown leghorn has decided to do a molt like the older girls so I know not to expect anything from her till maybe March!
She did start I think late August or early September. Only went about a month. The Welsummer has quit now too but she started laying early and very regular. TheEe I thought would never start but she’s still going strong. They came from Cackle Hatchery and I got them as 5 month old pullets the end of July.I've always wondered if late winter chicks moulted before they were a year old. Was she laying the last 3 months?
