How Many Eggs Did You Get Today?

Not the greatest plan, if she is parked on it she is likely going broody.

Very sad and I hope you've learned your lesson, the phone does NOT need to be in hand at all times! OK, I guess it wasn't since at one point it was visiting the eggs. ;)

7 or 8 today depending on how you want to count them. When I went down this morning I noticed there was an egg in the corner of the feed room. Frozen and cracked so laid yesterday and I'll count it as one more for yesterday even though it is likely good for nothing but chicken food (no dog and the cats don't seem to care for eggs). No one has been laying there for quite some time but there was another egg there this afternoon.

:lau it was after dark so I was using it to see the eggs! Then wonk. Right on one of the biggest, best ones :lau :hit

And hmm interesting mystery! Guess it must have been yesterday! Mine were a combination of yesterday and today.

OK, you had a good reason to use the phone. I have a headlamp that I use, keeps my hands free for closing latches, collecting late eggs, etc.

:lau yeah, usually it does stay in my pocket when I’m out there. :P

A headlamp is a good idea though!! I went out to refill water and add shavings to one of the coops right before dark and then figured while I was out there and locking everybody up, I’d check for eggs. Of course by this point it was dark. Should have gotten them first before it got dark. :P

Twenty two eggs today!!!
There are a few young ladies suspiciously starting to do the cluck cluck song.... that'd be fine if they would wait until it warms up some.

I don't know how I ever survived without my headlamp!!! Use it pretty much every day, SERIOUSLY!

I need to get one!!!

Like you need any more laying!
If anyone goes broody I separate them into their own pens inside the henhouse, because I hate nest stealers & baby egg breakers fighting over nests/eggs.

I could totally benefit from getting rid of some hens but I have a closed flock. I'll only get rid of birds that have been brooded separately & away from my flock. I don't want to risk getting someone else's flock sick.
