How Many Eggs Did You Get Today?

Hopefully my girl will lay again today. She has been laying everyday for two days, so two eggs from her ever. I want to make a cake, don’t know why, and I need 3 eggs. I only have one egg that can be used, and some supermarket eggs in the fridge. I’m not making a cake with supermarket eggs when I can wait a bit and have enough fresh eggs to make it. If she does lay today and tomorrow I can make a cake tomorrow. If she doesn’t, that stinks. Just gonna have to wait and see.

Don’t know why I care so much about making a cake, but I do. I don’t even like baking, I really hate it actually. I just like cake.

She has been laying everyday, but I guess that doesn’t mean much as she has only been laying for two days. Maybe one of the other ones will start laying today, then I can make a cake today. The only ones close to laying are my BO and one of my other EEs. My BO doesn’t look quite ready yet, so my other EE may be next. I don’t know.

I did just put my nesting boxes up last night, a bit late I know. They haven’t been interested in sitting in them, but they have been eating all the hay out of them. Now there is hay all over the pine shavings. What did I expect?

( Sorry if my grammar was bad in this post, I wrote it while trying to wrestle a stick out of my cockerel’s mouth. He was running around with it, and smacking the girls while he was at it.)

I can't wait to see a pic of the cake!

5 of 6 today, so far I should say> I collected a little earlier than normal.

Been weighing my eggs. today's eggs were 59, 55 and 51 grams, and then a couple small ones (43 and 35 g) from the girls who just started laying this week.

Back to 4 here the last few days. I have a new broody that’s very stubborn. I’ve threatened freezer camp but that’s a little harsh this early I think. My others I broke so easily but not her. This is day 4 or 5 and it’s affecting my whole flock. I’ve blocked off the nests and she still won’t roost. She gets as close to the nests as possible and sits there. Her stubbornness is also hindering me training my new pullets that just joined the big girls. I told my wife this was supposed to be fun but this gal is killing ALL the fun in it.

Have you tried making a broody breaker from a wire dog kennel? I've had really good luck using them for my stubborn ladies. :)

I may have to consider selling some eggs. I only have 7 layers so far but soon will have 11. I cant keep up withthe 7 as is. Dont know what I'm going to do with 11 laying 😂
