How Many Eggs Did You Get Today?

I may have to consider selling some eggs. I only have 7 layers so far but soon will have 11. I cant keep up withthe 7 as is. Dont know what I'm going to do with 11 laying šŸ˜‚
Ooooooh, I love the colors! I can't wait until my EE start laying.
I got our daily 1 egg today from our amazing golden laced wyandotte who is laying practically every day! One of my welsummers seems like she's getting pretty close, though! I have 11 girls too, I can't wait to be flooded with eggs! šŸ˜‚

I just caught my laying girl in the nesting box. They have only been up for not even 24 hours, and she has already caught on. Can’t say I’m not impressed. 803C6A93-C061-428D-9F8E-CB26E8C1C17C.jpeg

She layed an egg! It was bigger than her last two for sure, and it was in the nesting boxes! It’s already 6:00 pm here, so she layed it pretty late. That means she most likely won’t lay tomorrow, since math, but I’m fine with that. She is amazing.
YAY! Did it have blood on it this time, too?

No, it was clean. I’m a bit surprised she layed this late, and that she layed it in the nesting boxes, but that just makes her more awesome. And she skipped valuable free ranging time to lay it, when she could’ve just layed in the trees.

Awesome!

Have you tried making a broody breaker from a wire dog kennel? I've had really good luck using them for my stubborn ladies. :)
I have read about doing that but I’m still being cheap. I don’t have an old dog kennel and don’t want to buy one. I did however get home today and make my own version of broody jail. I just moved my 7 week girls from the brooder into the big house. I cleaned all the bedding out of the brooder and put in some food and water. She has a hard floor, a view of the others having fun and a roost. She’s not happy! If that don’t work then we may have to get a kennel.

My neighbor, who had chickens for years, said my hens aren’t happy because they don’t have a rooster. He claims most of my chicken problems will melt away with the arrival of a fat, happy roo!
Um, no? That’s not how it works. My girls don’t really like my cockerel, mostly because he is annoying and overprotective.
