Yes, close together, touching but I don't believe connected. Lash eggs?Look like lash eggs where they together like that ?
It won’t be super cold during the day but we will be below freezing for well over 24 hours. Monday and Tuesday nights getting into the teens. Ice and snow in the forecast for Monday. Someone will check the nests. I was scheduled for training out of town all week but if it’s still looking to be bad I’ll call supervisor and beg off hopefully. I’ll make my final judgement tomorrow. I definitely don’t want to leave my family in winter storm conditions with possible power outage to boot.It doesn't matter what the temp is at night, they USUALLY don't lay thenThough I've had a few "off the roost" eggs over the years and yep the ones laid in the really cold weather were frozen and cracked.
What are the temps supposed to be during the day Tuesday? Can you check the nests a few times during the day or do you have to be away from the house? They don't freeze immediately, I usually go out every 3 hours to check for eggs. If more than one hen is laying in the nest they will collect up any existing eggs so that keeps eggs that were laid earlier from freezing.
My teens don’t seem so bad when you put it like thatOur lows have been single digits and some days so have our high temperatures. Tomorrow the high is supposed to be 7 degrees Fahrenheit and the low is supposed to be - 2.

You may have already said, but what breed are your broodies?9 eggs today, and another broody. That makes 4 this winter, the first having just gone back to laying, and I just gave the third eggs yesterday.
The first was a gold laced wyandotte, the second a wyandotte/leghorn mix, third a cuckoo marans and now the fourth is an australorp. You may have already said, but what breed are your broodies?
