I think about half of my layers are pullets, but the rest are older hens. I still expect a few more eggs from young layers, though

Yeah February pullets should be laying I would think. I have April pullets laying right now. They are my only consistent layers right now. My older girls drop one here and there.
Not when they have ameraucana mixed in them which is a breed that takes 40+ weeks to start laying
3 of my April pullets are Easter Eggers which have Ameraucana mixed in them. Been laying a couple months now.

My girls that are consistent layers right now were all born early spring this year. They are Golden Comets, ISA Browns and Barred Rock. I have two GL Wyandottes that are laying 3+ eggs a week each, I don't know their age, got them as laying hens. One of my pullets born this June just started laying, she's a Lavender Orpington. Still waiting on the other pullet, a Speckled Sussex.
How many generations away are they from true ameraucanas mine is a first gen the sister to the rooster took 42 weeks to lay
No clue. I wouldn’t want a chicken that took that long to lay.
I also had a pure ameraucana that took a while to lay. Close to 40 weeks.
14 today.
