27 today. Molting has started for my flock too. Feathers feathers feathers everywhere you look.

6 today from 7 old enough to lay.

One we took in a few weeks back, she was in a state being picked on and having a hard moult. She's looking much, much healthier but no eggs. We were told she was 12 months approx and started laying in march/April. My husband is convinced she's much older but how do you age a chicken

3 eggs from 23 hens. Two fully broody, another two just breaking from broody, and a whole lot of free loaders with some molting started. Meanwhile the weather is beautiful early Fall, 70-80's in the day. I have searched for secret nests, nothing.

Just a person who asked if someone had space to re-home her because her sister had been taken by a predator and she was now being picked on by others on the flock.

She also had pink dye of some kind on her that they said they didn't know how but she had it when they got her.

The first picture and third pictures are not long after we got her. The second picture is Violet this morning. They said she's a lavender Brahma, it doesn't matter to me what she is and she's settled well and seems happy, although a little bit of a bully herself but she's not really mean and watching her run is the funniest thing I've ever seen. Makes my day when she runs to grab a treat.
