How Many Eggs Did You Get Today?

Top line is number of laying hens and bottom jiggy line is the daily egg count over the past year and a half. We occasionally find a hoard (see the spike) but they have been very slow since we combined flocks and changed their feed late this summer. Lots of possible reasons... weather, feed, stress, shorter days... but there are certain trends over time that are interesting to watch. We also have a lot more heritage breeds which aren't the production birds we started with.

Good information. It will be interesting to see what happens in the spring once they are all settled. Hopefully lots of eggs.
