How Many Eggs Did You Get Today?

Let's see, one Sunday and one Monday, both in a box, because I made the EE stay in there. Today, I was so hopeful she'd remember...and she laid it on the floor. Maybe she's just dumb. 😂
Of all the different breeds in our flock... you are not wrong in your assumption. Same situation. I have one that always crowds the same RIR and they lay eggs together (kind of cute in one aspect, but sometimes ends in cracked egg shells), and another that just lays in the corner of the coop. They are dumb... but they make up for it by being cute and laying cool eggs.

Oh... and today we've got 7 eggs out of 14 potential pullet layers, but the temps have been cold. One was our EE that layed in the corner of the coop - yet again. Ah well... she's alive and healthy. My only goal at this point is keeping them healthy and alive. What they provide is not on my schedule... it's what they are capable of. My job is keeping them alive and comfortable.

I've seen this both in beekeeping with storms in the spring to fall seasons and now chickens. It's amazing. No weather forecaster can out do the animals.
Animals are the best predictors.

Been getting between 6-8 eggs a day right now.

Three out of six layers. They have slowed significantly since summer. Was getting 6 per day, then it got colder and shorter days. And now we have a broody momma who spends a lot of time in the coop with the chicks when it is cold outside. The others don't like an audience. But come spring...I can't wait we will have 8 layers plus how ever many of these 4 babies turn out to be pullets. :)
